The 77th annual Golden Globes aired last night and it was a star-studded event to say the least. Stars including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joaquin Phoenix, and Meryl Streep were a few of many to attend the event.
The award show included a cute but awkward exchange between Jennifer Aniston and ex-husband Brad Pitt, Elton John without his signature glasses on, and a very bold and uplifting speech given by Michelle Williams on Women’s rights. It was also a night where a lot of celebrities used their platforms to help spread awareness on certain topics they were passionate about. These topics included the fires in Australia, mental health and Women’s rights.
Ellen DeGeneres and Tom Hanks were both honored with achievement awards. Ellen DeGeneres was awarded the Carol Burnett award for her achievement in television and Tom Hanks was awarded the Cecil B. deMille award for his contribution to entertainment. They both accepted their awards with tears and inspiring words.
Awkwafina made history by becoming the first woman of Asian decent to win a golden globe for best performance in a musical or comedy.
Brad Pitt won a golden globe for his performance in “Once upon a time in Hollywood.” In his speech he thanked his friend and costar Leonardo DiCaprio, calling him an all star and referencing the Titanic movie by saying that he would have shared the raft. Living for this Bromance!
