West Michigan Nonprofits and Restaurants Offering Meals to Kids During School Closures

Due to COVID-19 canceling schools for the next three weeks, many kids who relied on meals during the school day are left hungry.  Lots of great organizations are stepping in to help these children that may need a meal to eat during this time.

Here are some places that are stepping in and helping out:

Bone Ends: Offering free meals for kids ages 15 and under from now until April 5.

Hand 2 Hand: Expanding efforts and finances to churches to help distribute food to those in need.

Green Harp: Encouraging parents who do not have a meal for their child or need help to call in for a free breakfast or lunch for their kids.

Kent County Schools: 25 distribution centers where student can pick up meals from the district closest to them.

Kids Food Basketst: Serving meals to kids, even though schools are closed.  Kids food basket is looking for volunteers to continue to deliver and make meals.

Our Jackie Green is running a marathon to help support this wonderful cause!  Click here to donate and support Kids Food Basket.

The Southerner: Offering meals to students and rides.

Electric Cheetah: Kids will be able to eat free with a minimum purchase of $14 from an adult.

Meals on Wheels: Meals will still be delivered to seniors.  Dining Locations are closed but grab and go options will still be available at pantry and dining locations.

Laughfest to donate meals to Mel Trotter: Meals that were to be served during a March 14 event at Devos Place will now be donated to Mel Trotter.

If you know of any other organizations that are stepping in and helping the community during this time, please let us know and we will add it to this list.  If you are able to donate to any of these organizations during this time, please look into doing so.  We are all in this together, and this is the time we need to be there for one another during this hard time.
