People from around the state of Michigan helping Gaylord community after deadly tornado

The city of Gaylord experienced an EF-3 tornado over the weekend, killing two people. Volunteers from all over Michigan quickly came to aid those in need of help.

13 On Your Side spoke with assistant executive director of the Otsego County United Way, Megan Hacker, about the support they’ve received in such a short amount of time:

“Our community is so hopeful and so full of love, I think everybody feels it,” Hacker said. “The people who have been affected have gotten overwhelming support even with just cleaning up debris in the yard.”

Hacker went on to say that the most important things the community will need help with over the next few days is food because the loss of power will cause residents to lose whatever they had in their fridges.
