Little Boy From Caledonia To Undergo Clinical Trial

A 9 month old boy from Caledonia is set to undergo a clinical trial to remove a rare, aggressive brain tumor known as ‘atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor.’

Ezra Tasman parents first discovered something was wrong when Ezra would throw up multiple times a day. They decided to take him to his pediatrician when they noticed that he hadn’t gained weight or grown for 3 months.

“They didn’t find a concussion at all, but what they found was a mass in the back of his head,” said Josh Tasman, Ezra’s dad.

Doctors at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital have performed two surgeries removing all physical traces of the tumor but sadly he must sadly undergo 1.5 years of chemotherapy.

To help his chances of being completely cancer free Ezra will participate in a clinical trial being done at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, this trial could increase his chance of becoming cancer-free to 80 percent!
